Palestinians Killed in Clashes With Israeli Security Forces

Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Dec. 6, shattering decades of U.S. neutrality on the subject as it pertains to the centuries-long struggle between Israelites and Palestinians.

The Israeli town of Nazareth has canceled Christmas celebrations, with the mayor saying the end of festivities is due to President Trump.

Erdogan described his US counterpart Donald Trump's Jerusalem decision a "threat to all humanity" and called on Washington to withdraw the "wrong, provocative and unlawful" decision.

Israeli officers dressed as Palestinians, some with Palestinian flags, infiltrated a demonstration in the West Bank, before opening fire with pistols and throwing smoke grenades at the protesters.

Nazareth is the capital of Israel's Northern District, about 100 miles north of Gaza, and is known as "the Arab capital of Israel". "We condemn the decision", a protester said.

Addressing a summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) here, Erdogan called on countries to recognize "Jerusalem as the capital city of the occupied Palestine" while Abbas urged the world to recognize the state of Palestine, Xinhua news agency reported. He died in hospital later.

"The US decision. means punishing Palestinians who have proven numerous times that they side with peace instead of violence", he said.

Two of the dead were militants believed to have been killed in Gaza on Tuesday when explosives they were transporting went off accidentally.

Armed groups in Gaza fired over the past few days rockets into Israel without causing any damage or injuries.
