Claude Makelele believes playing Tiemoue Bakayoko alongside N'Golo Kante will make Chelsea much stronger and praised the duo for their quality.
The midfielder motor was subbed off with a hamstring injury in the first half, clutching at his hamstring after 34 minutes, to be replaced by Adrien Rabiot.
"Kante came out with a muscle problem, behind a thigh, he will not be there Tuesday", Deschamps told L'Equipe.
"No I can't count on him for the next game", he said. 'When you go out with a muscular issue.it's something behind his thigh'.
"Rabiot can play that role, but the output of N'Golo may have destabilised the team - though that doesn't take anything away from Adrien".
"N'Golo's injury perhaps disturbed us".
The Kante injury will have set alarm bells ringing at Stamford Bridge, where is plies his trade with the Blues.
The news is a concern for Chelsea ahead of a packed run of fixtures throughout October.
Only a scan can reveal to full extent of Kante's injury with the length of recovery time differing hugely depending on the severity.
Antonio Conte will want Kante to be fit when his side return to Premier League action next Saturday with the short trip to Crystal Palace, before a crucial Champions League clash against Roma four days later.
